In this post I’ll be stepping back from the water and addressing a program called AmazonSmile. According to Facteus, a financial data firm, Amazon experienced a 60% spike in customer spending during the pandemic. Since so many people are purchasing via Amazon, I thought it might be beneficial to explain AmazonSmile and how it can help Save Crystal River.

What is AmazonSmile?

AmazonSmile is a branch of Amazon that helps customers donate to their favorite charity at no extra cost. Conveniently, partners with Save Crystal River. To use AmazonSmile, you simply login to AmazonSmile with your regular Amazon account information (I’ll attach a link below to the AmazonSmile website). Once you put in your email and password, you can then search and select a specific charity to donate towards. Once you select a charity, you will be sent to a website that looks identical to Amazon. The only difference is that in the top left corner of your browser, it will say “AmazonSmile” rather than just “Amazon.”

On AmazonSmile, the products and the prices are the same as on Amazon. The only difference is with each purchase through AmazonSmile, Amazon donates 0.5% of eligible AmazonSmile purchases to your selected charity. For example, if you select Save Crystal River, then every AmazonSmile purchase donates money towards Save Crystal River. The only tricky part about AmazonSmile is that in order to donate, you need to make sure you are purchasing through AmazonSmile and not just Amazon, so please habituate correctly logging in to smile.amazon.com before you purchase. I want to reiterate that AmazonSmile donations don’t cost the customer anything extra. It seems too good to be true!

If you chose to purchase from Amazon, please consider visiting the AmazonSmile website here and helping Save Crystal River. If you have any qualms about AmazonSmile as a whole, feel free to check out this informative website for more information: https://www.thebalancesmb.com/how-amazonsmile-works-and-should-you-use-it-4164531.

I’ll see you on the water,
